Gingersnaps

We recently dug through the recipe card box that Chris’ parents have and found Chris’ grandmother’s gingersnap recipe. We decided to make some, and they turned out quite well.

Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup light molasses
1 egg, beaten
2 cups sifted flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp clove
1 tsp ginger

Method

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add the molasses and egg and beat well. Sift dry ingredients, and add to creamed mixture. Until well mixed. Roll into small balls and dip into sugar. Bake on a greased sheet, two inches apart for 10-15 minutes. For our oven, it worked better to bake them at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.

These turned out well, and were quite tasty. Definitely a recipe we’ll be making in the future.
